Mark your Calendars for Sunday, June 11, 2023!
Our adjudicator, Stephanie Earp, will hold 2 workshops at 44 Gaukel, in downtown Kichener.
- Creative Colourwork: In this class, learn how to use stranded colourwork in new and unexpected ways. Class includes a copy of Stephanie’s Yoke O’Clock pattern, which takes the idea of a stranded yoke sweater and turns it into a functional clock. Blank charts are included, and you will learn how to plan your own clock based off your favourite motifs. Using Stephanie’s Folly Skirt pattern, class will cover selecting colours and palettes for complex Fair Isle style designs, and previews of upcoming designs will focus on the possibilities opened up by steeking (cutting) your in-the-round colourwork to create inlays and patches. By the end of this class, you will be inspired to put this ancient technique to work in fresh, modern and unusual ways!
- Math and Mods for Sweater Knitters: Learn the essential formulas for grading and modifying sweater patterns to start customizing your projects or grading your own designs. In this class, learn the essential percentages and formulas that form the basis of top down and bottom up sweater design, foolproof formulas for calculating evenly spaced increases and decreases, and how to add short row shaping for neck drop and bust adjustments. You’ll leave class empowered to make modifications with confidence and even begin grading your own designs. Hand outs include a sample spreadsheet, sample pattern, and a robust list of resources for reference. Spreadsheet software and laptop recommended but not required.
